Resumo:
This article is a review of the situation of environment management in a way of hosting and its benefits to society. The need to seek to mitigate the negative impacts performed not only by this thread, leads the development of strategic actions that enable organizations to assess and control more assertive environment impacts of its activities. Thus, the objective of this study was to identify environment positioning in a hotel in the city of Campina Grande-PB. The methodology used was bibliographical and semi structured interviews with non-participant observation at the site seeking to identify activities in four dimensions: water consumption, energy consumption, and solid waste products, and employees and community. The results show that the hotel has a positive positioning the environment issue, since it has been found that it performs activities related to mitigation of negative impacts within the four dimensions addressed. As benefits, in addition to the cost savings with waste, can result in strengthening the image of the hotel with the local community, implying a competitive advantage with the other hotels of the region. However, the difficulties that can preclude the implementation of other activities are the bureaucratic complexity, lack of cooperation between managers and employees and initial costs for the necessary changes.
