Résumé:
The increase in the number of elderly people in Brazil caused by better sanitary measures,
decreased fertility and the emergence of new policies such as the status of the elderly and the
National Health Policies for the Elderly, contributed most to the life expectancy of Brazilians,
not necessarily in improving aging of much less their carers. Concerned about the health
hazards of elderly caregivers formal and informal research was developed in the city of
Cajazeiras-PB, with the main objective to analyze the experiences of these caregivers in the
three Institution of Permanence Long for Elderly( IPLE's) . Among others as knowing the
difficulties faced in the care of the elderly and what causes a person to be elderly caregivers in
( IPLE's) . The survey was conducted using a semi-structured, objective questions and
discursive, applied in twenty caregivers and analyzed using the Collective Subject Discourse
(CSD). Which can highlight the following: the predominant age range of these professionals
was between 20 and 40 years representing 30% of the total surveyed, with 75% of these were
female, 40% had completed high school and only 35% higher , 35% earned between one and
two minimum wages, 70% had no training directed to the care, 85% had never had training in
the health of the elderly, 50% did not know the resolution establishing the functioning of
(IPLE's) . In addition to these data was reported situations of stress, muscle pain, excessive
physical force, low self-esteem and anger with the working hours and low wages. Through the
data obtained it is clear the need for intervention by public agencies for the training of
caregivers and actions to combat stressors giving better working conditions to these
professionals.
