Abstract:
According to the reality of the Special Education Center “Geny Ferreira” -CEEIGEF - located in the city of Sousa-PB, it was possible to notice that there are numerous difficulties regarding reading and writing, mainly in the initial series. This finding was the starting point for our study, and from there, we formulated it as a central question. Why do teachers find it difficult to work on reading and writing in the early grades of elementary school, despite the fact that the children arrive at school with their own interpretation of the written signs? We seek to identify and analyze in more depth the difficulties encountered by teachers in the process of teaching reading and writing at CEEIGEF, we perceive some causes that cause the difficulties that teachers face in relation to teaching reading and writing, we also try to verify if the teachers have habits of reading and writing and what they think about reading and writing.
