Resumo:
This monographic work highlights the importance of building the habit of reading in the early years. In this way, the critical reader is constituted from the habit and the taste for reading; a more complex and contextualized reading, of the world around you, of your experiences, of your stories. The autonomous reader and the one capable of interacting with other readings, with other readers and mainly with the authors. The formation of critical and intellectualized subjects allows a glimpse of a society more prepared for the demands imposed by capitalism and technology. The importance of the theme raises for countless discussions that were analyzed and reflected through the educational practice that took place in the State Elementary School Batista Leite, Sousa - PB. With the scope of analyzing the deficiency of the act of reading and writing in the fifth year of elementary school, the relevant discussions support the object of study of this work, which will contribute to make the education professional aware of the urgent need for reflection and transformation pertinent to the construction habit and taste for reading. For this, the learning process and the taste for reading for the child needs to have some meaning that stimulates him and this way he can be interested in what he is learning, what was observable in the internship that I accomplished and that founded this work. In this study, several authors and scholars on the topic were prioritized as theoretical foundations, such as: Paulo Freire, Maria Helena Martins, Ana Teberosky, Emília Ferreiro, among others. To carry out this research, a questionnaire was used as an instrument of data collection. The questions inserted in it turned to the understanding of the procedures used by the educator in order to make his students feel pleasure in reading and to produce new texts from these readings. The results clearly show the deficiency and the urgent need for transformations imbued with effective measures in order to overcome the countless difficulties that permeate this complex process of teaching and learning reading and writing.
