Resumo:
The act of reading is a procedure that goes beyond the simple decoding of the written word, as it requires a knowledge of the world that allows the reader a critical view of the text read. In view of the need to resize the reading and writing process experienced in schools, we developed this work with the objective of discussing and analyzing the teaching of reading and writing in the initial grades, from the reflections and analyzes exposed here, we infer about the limits and possibilities that the proposed theme presents. Reading and writing, when it is well developed since the beginning of literacy, provides overcoming children's learning difficulties. We realize that there is still a large number of children from public schools who reach the fifth grade of elementary school with many difficulties in reading and writing, which hinders the development of these students in the procedures of teachers. It makes us realize the relevance of conducting an investigative study on the reality of this teaching practice based on what teachers think about theoretical and methodological elements that make up this activity, which present themselves as factors of progress or obstacles for a good development in the teaching of reading and writing.
