Resumen:
In times of modernization, reading and writing has greater importance in people's lives, as we live in a globalized society, where reading and writing are needed. We chose to work on the theme of reading and writing at the Antônio de Souza Dias School of Early Childhood Education and Elementary School, located in the rural area of the city of Cajazeiras-PB, aiming to analyze the reading and writing process in an attempt to enable educators to broaden their view regarding to the reading and writing process, in an attempt to help them better understand their practice, and consequently develop the training of critical readers and writers. The practice of reading and writing in classrooms needs to be developed in the face of a vision that will promote the formation of critical participatory people. Teachers are often faced with some cultural and economic difficulties in working with the reading and writing process. When we read, our culture enriches our vocabulary and we become informed people with greater power of creativity, in the social context to which we are inserted. The habit of reading and writing is a pillar of the teaching-learning process, so it is inadmissible to omit it, to despise it in our pedagogical action. Reading and writing have a significant value in our society, individuals who do not know how to read or write are excluded from society, and it is in this sense that this study intends to discuss, what causes I hinder the process of reading and writing.
