Experiências dos familiares de pessoas com transtorno mental em municípios de pequeno porte.

Abstract

For years the madness underwent institutionalization, that caused the detachment of the family in the process of attention to mental disorders, however, with the Psychiatric Reform, which proposes changing assists, the role of the family came to be emphasized as a partner in mental health care. Despite these gains, limitations arise in care when we consider the small municipalities, in which mental health care is disjointed, creating burden for the family of the person in mental distress. So, the study aims to know the experiences of family members of people with mental disorder across the network in the absence of mental health, in small municipalities, the hinterland of Paraiba. Exploratory search for qualitative approach, held with 14 family members of people with mental disorder in the cities of Jericho and Mato Grosso. For data collection, we used the technique of oral history and life as a collection tool, the semi-structured interview. Visits were made to the Community Health Agent to know the number of families with relatives in mental distress then was made a contact with the interviewees opportunity and signed the Instrument of Consent, later began collecting data. The results showed a significant hardship and suffering by the family in caring for an individual with mental disorder, since they feel alone, has no family support, political or health professionals, besides report the difficulty of transporting to other municipalities, with transport costs, consultations and medication, beyond prejudice suffered. Given this, met the burden of these families as evidenced by the emergence of chronic diseases, medications and marital separation. This situation is aggravated by the ignorance by the majority of health services with mental health actions offered by municipalities, showing the weakness of primary care that provides no care to this population and ultimately reproduce the model psychiatric asylum. Municipalities do not have the strategy to meet the family in times of crises and their relatives do not have referral services in mental health. Thus, this study shows the actual shape and need attention by the managers, team the Family Health Strategy these families. Therefore, proposes an improvement of the existing health services and the formulation of municipal policies that seek to meet this demand and to promote a better quality of life for these individuals.
