Racismo, afro-descendência e a importância da lei 10639/03.

Abstract

This monographic work is a requirement of the Full Degree course in Pedagogy of the Federal University of Campina Grande. We weave reflections on Law 10639/03 amending the LDB (Let of Education Guidelines and Bases) making the teaching of African and Afro-Brazilian History and Culture mandatory. THE research registered in this monograph was developed at Escola Profissional Monte Carmelo in Cajazeiras- PB, from October 2006 to September 2007. It aimed to discuss racial prejudice towards the African and Afro-descendants present in society, in particular at school; identify prejudice and racial discrimination expressed in the relationships of agents educational activities; identify implicit and explicit aspects linked to the racial prejudice and still analyze the importance of law 10639/03 in the curriculum, understanding this as an object of social construction. The interest in discussing the ethnic - racial relations occurred due to the process of rescue / construction of black identity, and inclusion of this group in the debates and policies of the University and school curriculum. And yet, in view of a new conception inclusive society that is being created at the beginning of this millennium. THE methodology used was bibliographic research and action research both with qualitative character.The data collection instruments were the participant observation, questionnaires, interviews and focus group. It will contribute with this work at the university and school level, with the breaking of the silence about racist and discriminatory practices and attitudes towards black and black children and adolescents, with the creation of a space for that these children and adolescents can express themselves freely and respect, with the raising of reflective questions regarding this problematic with theoretical production on racism, identities and relationships ethnic-racial and demystifying curricular ideologies andro-eurocentric concepts in historical conceptions that are presupposed to implantation of Law 10639/03 in the school curriculum.
