Resumo:
This work aimed to provide teachers at the State School of
Elementary School Genésio Araujo a critical reflection of pedagogical practice in the teaching of
History and Geography from the conception of Jean-Jacques Rousseau. Because according to him,
education must be, above all, for life, prioritizing the method in which the child goes
learn through their own experiences and that the educator will have the role of counselor,
always taking care to create learning situations for her
possibilities. Therefore, we work with the teaching of History and Geography in its perspective, because
his experience, in the 18th century, with the conservative education of his time, leads him to
to propose an education removing the idea of a permanently bookish and repetitive teaching.
For this we use a sample composed of all teachers, which correspond to 08
teachers, belonging to the public network of the city of São Jose da Lagoa Tapada - PB, and
were consulted through questionnaires to find out how they deal with and pass on
knowledge about History and Geography. In this sense, one can perceive the divergences
between theory and practice, denounced in the teachers' conceptions, because these
"recognize" the importance of working with education according to nature, learning from
experience, however, does not include this form of teaching in its practices. We hope
this study has contributed to the awareness of the importance of the thinking of
Rousseau, to reflect on his practices and not continue to feed a practice
mediocre that only informs and does not produce knowledge or link what is proposed by
school and the life experience of children who attend this school. Finally we observe
that teachers as well as students, regarding Rousseau's conceptions of
regarding the teaching of History and Geography, we found that they were well accepted,
understood and that not only in theory but also in practice we had excellent results,
showing, however, the effectiveness of Rousseau's writings.
