Resumo:
The cardiac arrest in pediatrics is due to many causes, including shock and respiratory failure.
When it's not a sudden event, the sooner acknowledgment and the cardiac arrest prevention
are essentials for the start of Basic and Advanced Life Support, which are necessary to revert
this picture, avoiding all damage arising from this trauma. As the nursing team are the health
professionals who stay more time in contact with the patients, they are who identify and begin
the resuscitation. This study aims to note the knowing from the nursing team who operate at
the pre-hospital care about the cardiac arrest and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in children,
it's a descriptive and exploratory study with qualitative and quantitative approach. The
research was accomplished at regional SAMU (Service Mobile Emergency Care) from
Cajazeiras - PB. The sample was formed by 18 professionals who make up the nurse team
and respecting 196/96 resolution which it's about the research involving human beings,
agreeing to participate from that attending ethical principles and free informed consent (IC).
The data were obtained applying a semi-structured questionnaire. The results obtained appoint
the unpreparedness from some professionals in working in one unit of pre-hospital care,
because it's notable the less knowledge in basic and primordial procedures in front of the
cardiac arrest. In the questionnaire 44,5% from the people answered that hadn't participated
of no resuscitation course: 11,1% doesn't know the changes proposed by American Heart
Association; 33,3% answered that ratio of chest compressions and ventilation in children up
to 8 years old are 5x2; just 66,7% made the cardiopulmonary resuscitation; 5,3% answered
that the intubation and the medication therapy are basic life support procedures ,are replies
that can compromise the victim's quality of care. Noting the need to intensify the preparation
of these professionals in order to act in this area, because the patient's life is depending on the
speed and efficiency of the practices performed. It was observed that the nursing team is
appreciating and acknowledging their work in assisting the patient, not just limiting your
knowledge in your area.
