The phenomenon of teenage pregnancy has attracted the attention of the authorities in poor
countries, developed and underdeveloped. This study had the overall goal: to analyze the
scientific production about teenage pregnancy published in journals in the health area, in the
period 2006 to 2010; and specific: to identify the ideas associated with the research topic,
understand the contributing factors to the occurrence of teenage pregnancy; verify the effects
of teenage pregnancy, and list the possible solutions suggested by the authors in the face of
findings. It is a literature search with an analytical approach to quantitative data. The research
articles were 20 articles that had as one of its descriptors teenage pregnancy, and all national.
The data collection instrument was a structured containing objective and subjective questions.
Data regarding the number and distribution of articles in journals and analyzed data on the
formation of the primary author were presented in the table. The subjective data obtained
from the authors' views were analyzed in tables and discussed in light of the literature
concerning the matter. The results show that the development of research is closely linked to
academia. The idea associated with teenage pregnancy most authors reveal negative feelings
against the subject, and attribute their occurrence to factors of economic, social, cultural,
educational, psychological. Which sometimes are also attributed as consequences of the
event. Elaborate studies front of his suggestions that go down the field of prevention and
health promotion, and proposals to improve the socioeconomic sphere. Given the above, this
study aimed to contribute to the elucidation of information about teenage pregnancy, looking
through this understanding to generate actions to prevent and make this moment into
something positive for the trajectory of the adolescent.
