In Brasil, the enlargement in the prenatal covering is evidenced, though It is necessary the
investigation into the quality of the rendered attention. That research had as objectives: to
analyze the pregnant women's perception concerning to the attendance rendered during the
prenatal that had taken place in BHU of the municipal district of Sousa-PB, to know the
influence exercised by the socioeconomic level in the adhesion / permanence in the prenatal
consultations and to verify the importance attributed by the pregnant women to the prenatal
that had taken place in BHU of the municipal district of Sousa-PB. It is an exploratory
research, with quantitative and qualitative approach. Thirty pregnant who had their prenatal
exams done in three Basic Health Unities in the municipal district of Sousa-PB, in May of
2011, participated of this research. The data were collected through open and individualized
interview, with structured itinerary, as well as information contained in the pregnant woman's
card and in the pregnant woman's individual record and postnatal. Tables were used for the
characterization of the participants' socioeconomic and obstetric data and pictures for the
analysis of the qualitative data through the Collective Subject's Speech (CSS), standing out
the central ideas and their respective speeches, commented in agreement with the convenient
literature about the subject. The results point women with favorable age for gestation, who
lived together with fixed companion, most was of the home, who survived with a minimum
wage and lived with a considerable number of people. Concerning to the obstetric data, 76,7%
began the prenatal in the 1st quarter of the year, 33,3% were in the first gestation. It was
verified that the pregnant women attributed the importance of the prenatal firstly to their
children's health, later to them; the expressed dissatisfaction in the speech of some, for flaws
in the attendance and that the pregnant women, in majority, is that they don't go accompanied
during the consultations, endangering the rendered attention's capacity of resolution. It was
observed that the pregnant women's expectations and the importance attributed by them in
relation to the prenatal are based in the concept of preventive and healing health, and that the
socioeconomic aspects influenced this perception
