Resumo:
The way the drugs use have been seen today, differs from earlier eras in which the Brazilian
public health was not engaging properly with the serious problem of prevention and treatment
of disorders associated with alcohol and other drugs. Thus, this study aimed at analyzing the
perception of nurses regarding the care of drug and alcohol users in psychosocial attention
center of Sousa city in Paraiba, as well as to characterize the nursing care directed to users of
CAPS ad; to identify the conduct of work used during the service users and describe the
difficulties in operationalizing the model of care proposed by the CAPS ad. This research is
descriptive, exploratory, with qualitative approach of data. Data were collected after approval
by the Ethics Committee in Research. To collect data we used a sociodemographic
questionnaire and a roadmap of semi-structured interview. Three nurses participated of the
survey. Data were analyzed as guides to thematic content analysis proposed by Minayo
(2004). Data analysis showed that professionals realize that the policies within the service to
users of alcohol and other drugs is well advanced, but much remains to be achieved in this
area, especially in regard to training and service structure , which has compromised the
quality of care. It noticed also that the existence of an interdisciplinary team not only
improves the way nurses attend to this population, but also the attention as a whole, because it
facilitates the inclusion of users in the therapeutic project. Moreover, it was observed that the
prospect of harm reduction is the best way to achieve abstinence, effectively. Professionals
report that deinstitutionalization was and is a process of change that offers the best
expectations and freedom not only to the user, but also to professional that allows social
rehabilitation and psychosocial rehabilitation. You can see from the speech of most
professionals that the deployment of ad CAPS III, for users in withdrawal symptoms, could
ultimately improve the care provided, supporting a complementary way. Therefore,
identifying the relevance of this study for the academic community to contribute to discussion
and reflection about the issues of daily work of nurses in mental health but also to society, to
propagate a diagnosis of assistance Nursing offered in community mental health services. It is
hoped also that this work will serve as analysis and reflection on the current situation of such
assistance, serving as an instrument for future interventions to promote transformative
practices in the treatment of users of alcohol and other drugs. And that it might have been a
transformation in practices offered to users and their families, providing more access and right
treatment to the unique needs of each individual. In addition to a permanent education for
health professionals working in this area.
