Abstract:
Faveleira (Cnidosculus phylacanthus) is a forest species from Caatinga that deserves special attention and more research investment and more incentives to culture of this
species, that may be a solution to reduction of the unemployment and hunger rate to thousand families in Paraiba. Several studies have been done aiming to viabilize the use of favela derivatives, for example for human and animal feeding. Propagation vegetative of faveleira is a good alternative to seedling production, just like a tool in the plant improvement and to the producers. This study's main aim was to avaluate the effect of different periods, different doses of indolbutyric acid (IBA) and two substrates (vermiculite and comercial substrate), on the rooting process of branches. The air-layers were realized in the rainy period of the year (march to may). It was concluded that there was stimulating effect on the application of indolbutyric acid (IBA) on the faveleira rooting, and the faveleira showed indifference about both substrates, the best period to carry out the air-layering on faveleira was in the month may, and the rooting process on the substrates was observed 42 days after the execution of air-layering technique.
