Abstract

The importance of teaching art has been the subject of discussion throughout the years, even in the face of many studies developed that prove its importance for the intellectual development of the individual, this teaching still does not happen in a satisfactory way, that it will fully develop the teaching. Based on these statements, this monograph addresses how art influences the child's cognitive and cultural development, discussing thus the importance of introducing this discipline in school education, since the childhood. The objective of this research is an analysis of how the teaching-learning process of art in the fourth year of teaching elementary school of the Jaime Meira Fontes State Elementary School, trying to identify how students develop in art classes, thus understanding the importance of teaching it in education systematized. Regarding the methodology, it was used as an instrument data collection, observation and semi-structured interview, in addition to bibliographic sources, oral sources and memory document, the last two collected during the supervised internship. With the development of this study it was proved that arts education is fragmented and limited to free expression, and that due to this erroneous way of working arts, students see teaching it as just a distraction and consider that your study will only influence those who will later follow an artistic career. In the experience of the intern it was possible to conclude that dynamic and creative actions attract more students' attention, and that they develop better with the introduction of activities related to art, in addition to that this teaching can be done in an interdisciplinary way.
