The storytelling is one of the most ancient of human interaction. Used since the dawn of
humanity, for the transmission of knowledge and stimulate the imagination through oral
language and books of Children's Literature. Through stories, human subjects walking on
a road of discovery and understanding of the world, so you can pass values and promote
child development in various aspects. Based on these assumptions, the monograph aims
to "examine the contributions of storytelling for the integral development of children",
especially in the space of Early Childhood Education, seeking to show educators how to
insert the storytelling in the classroom, in order to develop integration group and
imaginative skills, cognitive, affective and pre-readers for children. For understanding of
storytelling in kindergarten, it was necessary to conduct a literature search around the
object of study. In this sense, research is defined as "literature", although it is effected an
activity field in the Library of the State School of Basic Education Victor Jurema, in the
course of reviewing the literature to support the lifting of theoretical and methodological
suggestions for storytelling stories aimed at teaching practices. Made the theoretical and
methodological considerations, it is appropriate to present the discursive paths relevant to
the structure of the work. The first chapter "The story-Stories in History: The Art of
Telling the Role of the Storyteller" proposes understand, historically and conceptually,
"the art of storytelling." The second chapter, "The Essence of Stories Listen and Listen:
A Glimpse of Child Development" reflects the importance of listening and hearing stories
in the development of children, discussing storytelling in school. The third chapter
"Theoretical and Methodological Suggestions for Storytelling in Early Childhood
Education" proposes to suggest stories and storytelling procedures for teachers of early
childhood education, linking them to the stages of cognitive development stage and the
literacy of children. At the end of the monograph, reaffirms the belief that storytelling is
an important tool to motivate the integral development of children, especially when
educators make proper use of it from a reflective teaching practice and pleasurable
