Violence against women is a historical problem and over the years, despite initiatives such as the creation of Law 11.340 / 06, the National Plan to combat domestic violence, the problem is not curtailed. Thus, this work aimed to identify which forms of domestic violence prevailed in Sousa, PB, using as a database the Protective Measures issued by the Specialized Police Station for Women in this city, thereunto a statistical survey of the crimes narrated in the Protective Measures was made, besides analyzing these data to understand the phenomenon of domestic violence in this locality. The research was, based on its purpose, exploratory and descriptive. As for its method, it took a quanti-quali approach. To obtain data, a bibliographic survey was carried out, as well as a documentary study of the protective measures. To perform the data analysis necessary for the study of the phenomenon of violence, the Bardin data analysis technique was used. As a result of the research, it was found that psychological violence is by far the most prevalent form of domestic violence in Protective Measures. After the analytical study of Protective Measures, it was obtained as a result that Domestic Violence in Sousa, PB is the result of behaviors conducive to the sexist and patriarchal culture.
