Resumen:
Hypertension is a chronic, often asymptomatic, slow evolution that often causes a number of
other diseases and health problems. Its prevalence in Brazil varies 15-20% in the adult
population, hence the prevalence of hypertension that has become a public health problem and
professionals in this area. The therapy is directly related to the change in lifestyle, by this fact,
there are numerous problems with the treatment of this disease. This study aimed to
investigate factors that influence adherence to treatment in hypertensive Family Health Unit
(FHU), as well as identifying the difficulties related to the continuity of therapy, and describe
the barriers associated with each difficulty. This is a field study of exploratory and descriptive
with quantitative approach, the sample consisted of 60 hypertensive patients enrolled in USF
Jose Carlos Araujo Gomes in the city of fructose-RN and the data were collected through a
questionnaire. The results showed that most respondents, 68% say they feel no difficulty in
following the treatment, with 53% of respondents still with blood pressure levels above the
standard, whereas 36% reported having as the main cause of the control diet; 78% show that
age is over 50 years, 8% spoke to the difficulty in going to the doctor or the clinic. The study
revealed that there are numerous barriers that interfere with appropriate treatment such as
physical activity, medication use, restrictions on tobacco and alcohol. Therefore, we conclude
that hypertensives are being studied, as your problem in following appropriate treatment, this
makes it easier to perform the treatment in a productive manner, thus contributing to their
well-being.
