Abstract:
In this work of Brazilian literature 1, we will be concerned with putting Arcadism and its representatives such as Tomas Antonio Gonzaga, Basílio da Gama and Santa Rita Durão on screen. As for Basílio da Gama, we will also see some of his particularities regarding Brazilian literature with some comments 1. We will have the same initiative when reporting the lyrical poetry of Tomas Antonio Gonzaga, Indianism in Arcadism focusing on Uraguai and Caramuru. We will consequently see José de Alencar's work in relation to Indianism, when he speaks of Ubirajara. We will try in this way, to achieve the established objective, regarding the subject that has been approached in the classroom. Our work has as objective to make an overview of the Brazilian Arcadismo, focusing on the poets. The Arcadian period goes from 1756 to 1825. It was of great transformation throughout Europe, especially in France, in the second half of the 18th century. Arcadism is a conscious reaction against Barroquism, expressed in a broad movement of reconstruction of Classicism, a movement of subordination to the decadent Baroque. It is the moment when that man who belonged to the closed world of the Baroque reaches the light of reason of the Enlightenment.
