Resumo:
Education has never been more important than these days. The world has been growing rapidly
bringing with it several changes, among them the way the process of education is being treated
in its dynamic process of construction. With the increasing desire to seek knowledge, many
students seek to specialize from higher education, however, not always these students complete
the course, which makes us question what factors can intervene to make this happen. The
objective of this work was to investigate how satisfaction is associated with the academic
performance of the students of the UFCG Management Course at Campus Sousa. This study
consisted of a quantitative research of exploratory and descriptive character, whose data
collection took on the basis of a previous research, which researched about the academic
satisfaction. In order to obtain a more effective analysis and interpretation, the available data
were organized in PivotTables in Excel, where the chi-square test was applied, aiming at the
possibility of identifying possible associations between academic performance and variables of
academic satisfaction. The independence test was applied to 35 variables, in which most of
them, that is, in 34 of the variables studied, accepted the null hypothesis H0, in which no
evidence of association with the students' academic performance was found. The variable
related to the financial support program offered by the institution was the only variable that
showed evidence of association with the average attributed to the aspect of academic
performance, among all the others surveyed. The study of new variables in education, further
enriches the way education contributes to the advancement of society, thus, education tends to
improve students' development.
