Resumo:
The Chemistry Teaching should contribute to the development of processes by which the
individual build social values, knowledge, skills, attitudes and skills geared to the
conservation of the environment and of common use, that is, with Environmental Education.
Aiming at this, the activities of this research turned to the students of the 3rd year of high
school of EEEMFMM City Damiao-PB in order to involve them in chemistry class and
implementation of educational activities, relating this curricular component with
environmental education, promoting discussion about the responsibility and the social role of
every citizen regarding the care of environment, through explanatory and interactive classes,
textual production and posters, presentation seminars, field activities , etc. Following the
objectives of Chemistry Teaching for Secondary Education, in this case specifically with
regard to the formation of conscious citizens, the development of sustainable habits and the
preservation of the environment, and to relate the chemistry worked in the classroom with
everyday events. Showing that the trial in middle school has educational function and can be
performed in the classroom, which allows the student to making meaningful data with which
to verify or propose explanatory hypotheses. According to the questionnaires, 60% o f students
said that the chemistry classes contributed greatly to their knowledge of environmental
education and more than 50% were considered protagonist in the construction of their
knowledge.
