Resumen:
Environmental education has been a cross-cutting topic that has been widely discussed and
implemented within the school curriculum, contributing to develop a critical awareness of the
environmental problems experienced within the context of the school community. In this
sense, working on the theme of waste in the context of environmental education will
contribute to the construction of skills and abilities necessary to learn scientific concepts in
articulation with environmental issues, in an attempt to find solutions to the problems
experienced in the socio-cultural context of the student. This research aims to build a teaching
proposal to work on the topic of waste generation in an interdisciplinary perspective using the
pedagogy of teaching by project in a public school in the city of Barra de Santa Rosa - PB.
This is an action research of a qualitative nature. The target audience was 25 high school
students. As a data collection instmment, questionnaires were applied to students, their
families and municipal public administration. The partial results of this work reveal that
students perceive the relationship between environmental well-being and school performance,
however, they do not present attitudes that are consistent with this perception. Regarding the
classes, the students showed an interest in philosophy classes with topics on environmental
ethics and society, and in the classes of chemistry the approach on the environmental theme
and the practice of obtaining an ecological plastic.
