Abstract:
Water is the most precious and fundamental resource for the existence of living beings on planet earth. This feature is indispensable for the maintenance of life. As a result, populations living in semi-arid regions have the lack of water as the main problem to be faced. Aiming at improving the population living in this area, members of the Articulation in the Brazilian Semi-Arid together with the One Earth and Two Waters Program have developed a very efficient social technology called the cistern boardwalk, where rainwater falls And slides on a cementated boardwalk with slopes of 20% and 200 m2 for a cistern with the capacity to store up to 52 thousand liters of water. The present work has the objective of analyzing the physical-chemical properties of water samples of these cisterns located in the rural area of the municipality of Cuite - Pb. The methodology involved the collection of 05 water samples from two sites: Sitio Federacao (04) and Sitio Lagoa do Serrote (01) and a diagnosis on the stages of rainwater harvesting and storage. It was verified that all cistern owners have the practical and essential care and were aware of the hygiene in the collection and storage stages, practicing them to avoid contamination and the quality of stored water. The studied parameters were pH, turbidity, electrical conductivity, total dissolved solids, alkalinity, hardness and chloride. Most physicochemical parameters evaluated are within the standard established by Ministry of Health Ordinance 2.914/11, only SDT, in all analyzed points are above the maximum allowed value that is 1000 mg.L"1 , and The chloride content is below the minimum allowed value of 0.2 mg.L"1 , except at Point 02 which is 0.59 mg.L"1 , thus within the maximum allowed value (250 mg.L"1 ). After the study was carried out, it was observed that as these parameters are in disagreement with the Ministry of Health, it is possible to conclude with regard to the potability of the analyzed water samples, they are outside the standard of acceptability for human consumption.
