Abstract:
This paper has the theme "The Practice of Educational Supervision at the Headquarters of a Municipal Education Secretariat". Our intention is to analyze this professional category in the educational reality and in the socio-economic-political context of Brazilian society. It is known that Supervision has has been the object of criticism, has suffered from the powers constituted the most diverse penalties and has, in the course of its existence, built its history.Our interest in investigating the practice of supervision at the headquarters level, arose from the readings, studies and discussions carried out in the classroom, in the most diverse disciplines and particularly in Principles and Methods of School Supervision, where it became evident the need to deepen the issue of supervision in the current educational context, not only at the school unit level, but at the system level in the within the education secretariat.In the capitalist society in which we live, education is an instrument to understand the interests of those who hold the power and decisions emanate, little concerned with the education of the popular classes. Far from being an essentially neutral practice in the service of the elaboration or of a project of social transformation, education has been a mediator of the mechanisms of social reproduction, guaranteeing the permanence of contradictions as indispensable to the perpetuation of the system.
