In this work we will try to reflect on the textbook as teaching resources, its potential and limitations in an attempt to analyze the extent to which this teaching material constitutes an element of positive or negative interference in the teaching-learning process, addressing the way in which this teaching resource is used. in the classroom by the teacher. My experience took place at the Municipal School of 1º Grau crispim Coelho, where I could see that the teacher uses the textbook as a decisive element in the classroom. This stance is confirmed in the words of MOLINA (1988). Thus, the studies carried out with teachers on the issue had as a basic premise to lead them to a critical reflection regarding this issue. The first moment I experienced at school, I had the feeling that I would not be accepted at school due to the indifference of the faculty. In a second moment, I noticed a certain bond of friendship and support, in which, together in practice, we were debating and reflecting on the serious problems that involve the issue of the textbook. Faced with these findings, we find our interest in discussing this issue because it is a controversial issue that involves the day-to-day activities of the school, within its historical context.
