In this study we evaluated the penetration, retention and distribution of CCB preservatives for round wood algarroba (Prosopis juliflora ( Sw.) DC) when subjected to the substitution of sap method. Additionally, we evaluated their resistance to termites through food preference test. 16 trunks were randomly selected, which were divided into four groups simultaneously. The first group underwent preservative solution immediately after slaughter; the second group underwent preservative solution 24 hours after slaughter; the third group was kept immersed in water for 15 days before being subjected to the preserving solution; the fourth group did not undergo any preservation treatment. After the end of the preservation process disks were obtained at three different positions of each trunk (base, middle, top) for the evaluation of the parameters of penetration, retention, distribution and mass loss. The results indicate that logs kept submerged before the preservative treatment compared to other situations evaluated showed significant improvement in their treatability, maintaining an even distribution of the chemical elements in its length, and reduced weight loss when exposed to the xylophages termites.
