Abstract:
This monograph has as its theme "the role of the CAPS in the citizenship
of the person with mental disorder: an analysis in the young adults CAPS from the
city of Sousa, in the state of Paraiba (PB)". The problem involved in the research
concerns to the stigmatization of the "mentally ill person" and the challenges to
the exercise of their citizenship. The work operates with the hypothesis that
families and society and the CAPS itself are not sufficiently prepared to deal with
the person with mental disorder. The general objective of the research is to verify,
in practice, the transformations brought about by the
Psychiatric Reform in Brazilian society and how these changes influence the
community coexistence of the "crazy person", based on an analysis made in
Children’s CAPS in the city of Sousa/PB. On the other hand, it has specific
objectives: to analyze the effectiveness of the work developed in the children's
CAPS of the city of Sousa/PB for people with mental disorders; discuss the
behavior of family members of people with mental disorders as an active subject
in the process of building the citizenship of the "crazy person"; to highlight the
behavior and importance of society for the social inclusion of people with mental
disorders in the city of Sousa / PB. To develop the research, the method of
deductive approach was chosen, in which the impacts of the Psychiatric Reform
on the social reintegration and citizenship of the "crazy" will be analyzed. As for
the procedure method, the adopted is the comparative historical method and the
case study. Regarding to the approach of the problem, the modality is qualitative.
As far as nature is concerned, the research is applied, while the objectives are
explanatory. Concerning to the technical procedure, the bibliographicdocumentary one was adopted. Structurally, the monograph is divided into three
chapters: the first one makes a historical outline of the Psychiatric Reform in
Brazil since the implantation of the asylum model to the creation
of the law 10.216 / 2001; the second one explains the strategies of the CAPS to
consolidate the Reform, highlighting the role of the family group in the new
assistance model; the third emphasizes the importance of environment as a way
of caring and the value of community support in resocializing the mentally
ill person.
