Abstract

The Irrigated Perimeter Irrigation District Várzeas de Sousa has three public institutions dedicated to research development: Paraibana Company of Supply and Agricultural Services, State Agricultural Research Company of Paraíba and Federal Institute of Paraíba. The general objective of this production is to raise the performance of the Research Institutions in Irrigation District Irrigated Perimeter Várzeas de Sousa. The methodology used exploratory, descriptive and documental procedures with a qualitative approach. The data were collected in the first half of the year 2018. According to the main results, the State Agricultural Research Company of Paraíba is the one that researches and is also the organ that most helps the small farmers of that district of irrigation. Another problem is the lack of a stronger charge by the DPIVAS administration to present the results of production, innovation, development of new crops and introduction of more research for the rural area.
