Abstract:
Financial education is the means by which the individual seeks to acquire the
knowledge necessary to manage their finances in an organized way. This knowledge is related
to the planning and control of personal finances, indebtedness and investment. This research
investigates the behavior of the students of Administration course in the Federal University of
Campina Grande (Campus Sousa / PB), in relation to personal financial management
practices. The study is classified as descriptive, regarding the objectives; procedures;
qualitative and quantitative approach to the problem. The sample is composed of 152 students
from the Administration Course of the UFCG (Campus Sousa / PB). The research instrument
used was a questionnaire, composed of 18 questions, which deals with the profile, planning
and control of personal finances, indebtedness and defaults and investments. The results
showed that most students plan and control their earnings and spending through means that
facilitate personal financial management but they most do not make investments. The
realization of investments enables the formation of a financial reserve to be used in the event
of unforeseen events and / or short / medium term (travel, for example) and long term
(retirement) planning.
