Abstract:
Current and future health problemsrequire new skills, for training and planning, of the
workforce, that is, with knowledge, skills and abilities, to translate public policies and
researchinto effective action for the growth and development of health promotion. This study
sought to investigate the perception of the employees of the municipal health department of
Aparecida/PB regarding the competencies before the public service provided to the
population, through a sample, he interviewed 38 servers on a voluntary basis. The
development of the work counted on an exploratory researchand another descriptive research,
which allowed deepening the knowledge on the management by competencesand about the
reality of public health policies within this municipality.The emphasis in the technical
competences was the knowledge about legislation related to work,was perceived as
"extremely important" for 63% of respondents.Within the results of the behavioral
competences, moral principles such as ethics, credibility, commitment and transparency, had
greater prominence "extremely important" and "very important" for more than 50% of
respondents.In personal skills such as initiative and integration for personal
development,more than 50% of the interviewees highlighted as "extremely important" and
"very important".Thus through this research can identifyskillswhich should be stimulated as a
public health policy.
