Resumo:
Mathematics is one of the main ways to get answers by using your objectivity to solve
problems in companies and organizations. It is present in most of the disciplines that integrate
the curricular structure of the administration course, considering that the structure developed
to formulate the contents and materials that compose curriculum is fundamental for the
development of a qualified professional, developing the conception of knowledge, Logical
and deductive reasoning. In view of the above, this work had as general objective to identify
the deficiencies in the formation of mathematical knowledge of students entering the
Administration course, period 2017.1, Federal University of Campina Grande - UACC / CCJS
/ UFCG, Sousa-PB campus. The study consisted of qualitative and quantitative field research,
of an exploratory and descriptive nature, and a questionnaire composed of objective questions
was used as a data collection tool, with multiple choices according to the students' perception
of their level Of evidenced knowledge. The questionnaire, evidenced a correlation with the
deficiencies in the formation of the mathematical knowledge of the incoming students of the
above mentioned course. It has been noticed that there is concern about the student's selfconfidence, his abilities and interests in relation to mathematics. The questions of the test
presented a possible relation to the deficiencies, where it was possible to identify the
mathematical areas with the greatest deficiencies: In numerical terms, the problem questions
related to the subjects of the elementary school presented a low level of correct answers in
relation to the direct subjects of the subjects approached. Still based on the test, related to the
subjects of high school, in numerical terms the errors excelled to the correct ones.
Considering the scenario presented and considering the importance of developing a qualified
professional in the area of administration, the mapping of these demands is fundamental for
solutions to be suggested.
