Abstract:
Entrepreneurial orientation (OE) is understood as entrepreneurship at the
organizational level and has been an important issue in entrepreneurship. Several authors
affirm that entrepreneurial orientation can positively influence the performance of
organizations. In Brazil, there are many actions aimed at entrepreneurship, one of them is the
Seminar EMPRETEC, which is promoted by SEBRAE. The seminar aims to develop in the
participants what is considered the ten characteristics of successful entrepreneurial behavior
and such characteristics are similar to the five dimensions of entrepreneurial orientation. The
present work deals with a quantitative research of the exploratory type, whose objective is to
verify the dimensions of the entrepreneurial orientation and the degree of importance of such
dimensions for the entrepreneurs who participated in the Seminar EMPRETEC in the agency
of SEBRAE de Sousa-PB between the Years 2007 and 2012 and to achieve this goal, a
questionnaire was applied with fifty entrepreneurs. After analyzing the questionnaires, it was
verified that the most important dimension in the opinion of the entrepreneurs was the
assumption of risks.
