The challenges of university life are beyond entry into universities. Not only the transition from high school to higher education, but also the permanence and successful completion of graduation are among the main challenges the university student can face. In the case of students of popular origin, the challenges are even greater. For them, adaptation and permanence in Higher Education depend not only on the provision of scholarships, access to housing, food and transportation, for example, but also of support psycho-pedagogic and psychological access that encompassing dimensions subjective interpersonal, educational, institutional dimensions. and of career. The objective is to understand the possibilities of insertion of psychology in the social assistance to the university student, trying to identify if this action dialogues with the affirmative actions that aim to promote the permanence of the quotaholders. This is an explanatory study, because it intends to explain the occurrence of a phenomenon and qualitative, since it proposes to carry out a denser survey of the data of the problem that is intended to investigate. Therefore, we opted for the systematic review of the literature in order to investigate what was done and / or studied by psychologists working in the context of the assistance of university students. The interpretation of the data was done through Content Analysis. It is worth noting the low number of studies found that focus on this theme, as well as the prevalence of actions based on individualizing practices, especially
focused on clinical, school and educational psychology, focusing only on students,exemptingother social actors involved.
