Resumo:
The research aims to analyze the impact of the 2008 international financial crisis on the public investment expenditures of Brazilian municipalities from 2004 to 2012. As for the methodology used, the Mann-Whitney test was adopted. This is a non-parametric test, since it contains variables that do not have normal distribution, used to compare if two independent samples were extracted from population with equal means. Regarding the approach, the study is classified as theoretical-empirical; Regarding the problem and the research objective, is characterized by being descriptive of a qualitative approach. It was concluded that the crisis of 2008 did not affect the municipal public investments, since, even when SIG <0.05, the mean of the variable before and after the crisis is different, it is possible to verify that the difference of the variable average After the crisis is higher than the pre-crisis average.
