Abstract:
The cervical cancer (CC) it’s a neoplasm characterized by the abnormal growth of the cervix cells and can be detected by cytopathological examination. Studies have shown that many women presents different types of negatives affections related to the exam, which difficult and restrain its execution. Therefore, this paper aims to evaluate the affections and significations that the cytopathological exam induces in women. It is an exploratory, with a quantitative-qualitative approach study, developed in a Unidade Básica de Saúde da Família (UBSF) of Campina Grande (PB) and composed by 1061 women aged 24 to 64 years. A sample calculation was performed showing that of the 286 women selected to compose the sample of this study, only 23 attended to the semiestructured interview in the UBSF. The qualitative data were grouped, categorized and analized following th technique of Analysis of Thematic Content. The results illustrate the emergence of negative affections in relation to the exam, which are related to the institution’s fragilities, as well as the cultural issues of each woman. For this reason, it is emphasized the importance of an educational health orientation, that clarifies dysfunctional thoughts about the exam and understands the woman entirely, and the exam besides a technique, this enable the empowerment and the adherence of women to the exam in a less distressing way. Finally, the importance of the Psychology’s professional is emphasized in this scenario and it is suggested the development of studies that deepen about the affections emerged in the women’s by the cytopathological exam, in addition to developing strategies, by the UBSF’s professionals, of reception and creation of spaces for these women speak about their affections.
