Educação emocional na oncologia pediátrica: relato de experiência de estágio em psicologia hospitalar.

Abstract

According to the relevant literature, an intentional education of emotional competences facilitates the emotional development, provides greater flexibility in the face of unexpected situations and also favors the increase of coping capacity towards stressful situations. This study aimed to show the interventions performed by a Psychology intern in the pediatric oncology ward of a public hospital in the state of Paraíba (Brazil). It will be reported experiences with different patients in undergoing treatment (two children and one teenager) and with a hospital employee, having as theoretical and methodological support the education of emotional competences. The results found revealed that the intentional use of emotional competence education is an useful resource to be managed in the hospital environment.
