Abstract:
Northeast Brazil is suffering the consequences of the worst drought of the last 50 years. The São Gonçalo reservoir, located in the municipality of Sousa - PB, collapsed in August 2015, and the population of the cities served by the reservoir suffered a four - day water rationing and substantial losses in agropastoral activities in the region. Batista (2013) proposed 5 (five) alternatives for the best operation of the reservoir so that this fact does not occur again. Therefore, this work was developed with the purpose of evaluating the best alternative, with the use of multicriteria analysis through the application of the PROMETHEEE II method. Criteria for assessing the use of water resources in the reservoir were separated into two dimensions (criteria for the use of water in the reservoir and criteria for water use by irrigated agriculture). The subjectivity of the human decision was to analyze through 11 (eleven) possible scenarios of weights for each dimension of criteria. The results indicated that the alternatives C5 and C4 are the only alternatives chosen for the operation of the São Gonçalo reservoir, however in all scenarios the alternative C6 is presented as a good alternative to be chosen and the alternatives C2 and C3 configured as the worst alternatives To be chosen depending on the weight stipulated for the dimensions. Thus, it was noticed the success of the application of the multicriteria analysis for the selection of alternatives.
