Resumo:
The present dissertation aimed to analyze how the gender category is worked in high school in a public state school full of high school in the city of Caruaru / PE, with an emphasis on teaching sociology. As a method of data collection, questionnaires, interviews and focus groups were used, all carried out in person. As theoretical axes, we made use of the contributions of some authors who have deepened on gender studies and their relations of domination and on the Teaching of Sociology, highlighting, among them: Louro, Scott, Foucault, Bodart, Handfas, Maçaira and Fraga. Some official documents dealing with the regulations on teaching sociology were also used. In this work, we highlight the importance, increasingly accentuated, of understanding the aspects that are connected in gender relations, such as the forms of control and domination, which often have repercussions on practices of violence. We refer, in particular, to unequal and conflicting relationships between women and men. In this sense, considering that the training of young people starts at school, we emphasize the role of school education in basic education, as crucial in addressing gender, particularly through the teaching of sociology. At the end of our work, we present some propositions, based on the reflections provoked from the readings and the results of our research, which aim to contribute to the systematization of effective work in school (specifically in the teaching of sociology) on the theme of gender.
