Resumo:
This study is to describe what the understanding and conduct of small businesses in retail
trade in the city of Sousa - PB with respect to ethical, moral and social responsibility. The
paper addresses the historical and theoretical on Moral Ethics with Corporate Social
Responsibility, for studying the importance and how to promote the development of the
company. The method was deductive, characterizing a qualitative research. Data were
collected from a sample of 85 companies and the information was collected through a semistructured
questionnaire with objective and subjective with the managers of the companies
surveyed. It was noticed that there is little interest on the part of managers to take stock of
social nature to external and little investment for your internal audience (staff). Managers do
not use financial statements to demonstrate transparency in their finances to the society and
government, why are not motivated to practice it and believe it is not mandatory. It was
concluded that in the current context, the companies surveyed are shown to have no interest
in engagement with issues that show responsible management although some practices of
business ethics. It is suggested for future work to increase the sample to midsize businesses
in the region and draw a new profile in the region and to verify that profile in the surrounding
towns.
