Résumé:
Information is the strategic element for organizations and represents a contest of political-economic
power. Because of the complexity in organizational environments, organizations need to be prepared
to face the constant changes in the corporate world and to have the right information at the right time
is indispensable for their survival. In this sense, the present work sought to analyze how the
Management Information Systems (GIS) used by SESI Sousa-PB help in the decision making and / or
control of administrative actions. For this the present research is a case study, qualitative, with
descriptive procedure. The study was carried out at SESI in the city of Sousa - PB, an institution that
promotes actions through the National Department and the regional units that operate throughout
Brazil. SESI carries out various programs, events, courses, awards and has partnerships with several
institutions. The sample consisted of 33% of the population population, corresponding to 17
employees of SESI Sousa - PB, selected by technique for convenience and accessibility. The data were
collected through a questionnaire adapted from Dias and Alves (2002) and Cabral (2013), being
structured and formulated with questions pertinent to the study proposal, being applied to the
employees. The data were analyzed with the aid of tables and graphs and discussed with the pertinent
literature, when referring to the quantitative data, the Bardin Content Analysis was used, through the
categorization and analysis of the discourse of the existing respondents in the applied questionnaire.
The results showed that the organization studied, for the most part, is able to enjoy the benefits of GIS,
where most employees agree that the information system makes it possible to streamline processes as
well as improve service. Factors such as productivity and time savings were well evaluated. It is
concluded that the combination of an adequate information system with the development of its
systemic performance in a way that involves all departments of the organization, from the operational
to the highest levels, provides indispensable contributions to the management process.
