Objective: To understand the conceptions and practices of Nursing professionals of the Family Health Strategy related to the sexuality of men and the prevention of HIV infection in this population. Method: This is a descriptive research, with a qualitative approach, carried out within the scope of Primary Health Care, with 23 nursing professionals from the Family Health Strategy of municipalities in the State of Paraíba. The sample was delimited using the data saturation technique. For data collection, a semi-structured interview was conducted. In the analysis, the Content Analysis technique was used, in the thematic modality. Results: Three thematic categories were formed, entitled Health needs of men attended in the Family Health Strategy: conceptions of nursing professionals and repercussions for care; Aspects related to gender and the experience of men's sexuality: perspective of nursing professionals in the Family Health Strategy; and Practices of nursing professionals in addressing sexuality and preventing HIV infection among men. Conclusions: There is evidence of failures in primary health care provided by nursing professionals, from the recognition of needs to the realization of care and preventive actions, with fragmented health practices centered on the biomedical model.
