Resumo:
Theme increasingly researched, the Third Sector has gained prominence in recent
decades. Its managerial aspects and social objectives have attracted the attention of
society as a whole, mainly because much of its work is done by volunteers who need
to be motivated for social causes. In this context, this study aimed to analyze the
management of volunteer work in Centro de Educação Integral Margarida Pereira da
Silva - CEMAR, from Pombal-PB. The technical procedure used in the research was
the case study, with information obtained through the application of a survey with 21
volunteers and a semi-structured interview with three directors of the institution. The
research instruments aimed to identify the socioeconomic profile of the volunteers
and analyze the perceptions of volunteers and managers regarding the management
of volunteer work in the organization. The results showed a positive vision of the
volunteers on the management of CEMAR, so that they feel motivated to work in that
non-governmental organization. As a suggestion to CEMAR managers, hiring an
organizational consultant and do courses and training in social management for a
greater professionalization of the institution activities was indicated.
