Resumo:
In establishing citizenship and popular sovereignty as pillars of the Brazilian legal system, the Federal Constitution of 1988 sought to ensure the protection of social subjects, so that their individual rights were protected and effective, thus giving priority to human dignity. In spite of the fact that Brazil has several human rights protection standards and be a signatory of international treaties in this sense, there is still a lack in the educational process directed to the study of human rights, especially in higher education institutions. In this sense, it is questioned the importance of the insertion of education in human rights in higher education and what possible strategies can be adopted to make this process effective. Under this approach, the present study seeks to analyze the importance of insertion of human rights education in higher education and the strategies for building a political-pedagogical project based on the critical theory of human rights, exposing the importance of educational training in human rights for the creation of professionals who are more responsible, tolerant and aware of their role in society. Also, as a way of illustrating the local reality, it was analyzed how human rights education is approached in the Pedagogical Political Project of the UFCG / CCJS Law course, analyzing the guidelines and goals that the pedagogical project of this course establishes for insertion of the theme into the educational process. Regarding methodological aspects, the deductive method was used to understand the importance of human rights in educational training. As a procedure, we adopted the historical method, to explain the evolution of human rights in the world and in Brazil, and the interpretative method, to analyze the aspects of construction of a political-pedagogical project of human rights education. Finally, as a procedure, bibliographical research was used, through the consultation of books, articles, websites and journals related to the theme to base the construction of the theoretical reference.
