Resumen:
The information technology in organizations has significantly transformed the business
models of companies , and it is a main element for obtaining competitive advantages . Using
the Information Systems ( IS) the performance of modern organizations can be affected in
many ways , making them new spaces and opportunities for competitive performance . This
study evaluated the use of information technology as a factor in decision making and support
the management of the company ENERGISA de Sousa -PB , for this, this work reaches to
describe the information system and the organization's business environment and reporting
about the use of IT and information systems and management support tool and identify
actions with the use of IT . Thanks to globalization, become necessary for companies to seek
every day an excellence in its products and services, so that it reaches a higher quality and
efficiency in their business practices. Through the used research methodology , case study , it
was possible to describe appropriate characteristics for research in a universe of 34 employees
in the same sector with a total sample of 96 % of the interviewed we can see that when they
use the SILCO system of the ENERGISA’s company, can ensure to the group higher data
reliability, which is monitored in real time and decreasing the rework, what is owned with the
help of the employees, responsible for making the systematic updating of data that feed the
entire chain of system modules and, in last instance, made the company to interact with
customers and final users . This system is one of the vital systems of the company. Used by
commercial services department ( DESC ), and in the field, for all commercial auxiliary, the
SILCO is directly connected to other systems of the group, aligning all information arising
from other sectors, assisting in decision making and also managing in medium and long term.
