Résumé:
The work aims to verify the management practices used by managers of the Federal
University of Campina Grande, Campus Sousa. The first time a survey is made of the origin
of universities, and its implementation in Brazil, at a next moment we looked at on the Public
Administration and managerial practices that should be developed by managers. The research
underlying this study was conducted through questionnaire applied to the managers of the
institution studied, which were extracted and analyzed their results, quantitatively and
qualitatively, and bibliographical survey, conducted in order to gather data on the subject. As
the survey results, it was observed that the managers of this institution have the necessary
knowledge about the functions of planning, organizing, directing and controlling, as well,
running good management practices in his department, and to his subordinates, while not
having full training in Administration. It was found that the institution there are flaws in the
process and few inputs available that are necessary to assist managers in carrying out their
activities. A possible responsible for these failures, may prove to be the state apparatus that
governs this institution, which could provide the means and resources necessary for the
effective implementation of the activities of these managers in all departments of the
institution.
