Resumo:
The Brazilian retail grows with the rise of consumption and the release of credit,
many chain stores expand their area of expertise and professionalize their
processes, this scenario can reduce costs and gain competitive advantage over
competitors is paramount. The work has as object of study a retail company that is
part of this context. The research is classified as a descriptive exploratory research, a
literature overview of the direct and intensive observation and a study that fits the
concept of action research, sought to highlight the potential of the purchasing
department in making strategic decisions that generate competitiveness in the
company object of study. The work showed how the organization proceeds in the
purchasing department to keep the market that alternative professionals have found
to increase your chances before the competitors and the importance that
differentiation plays in companies that are some restrictions on trade. The work also
showed that the studied company exercised some practices by intuition and it was
concluded that some processes could be improved using simple practices in the
department. The survey recommended changes in how work in the sector focus of
the work, trying to contribute to the reality of organization studied.
