Resumen:
Financial education is the way in which individuals seek to acquire knowledge
necessary to manage their finances and consistently make good decisions about them.
This study aimed to examine whether the academic community of the Center for Legal
and Social Sciences conducts personal and family financial control. The community is
divided between students, teachers, administrative staff and outsourced service
providers. The research was classified as descriptive, bibliographical and survey, with
non probabilistic convenience sample, and the data collected online through the
Google Docs provided by the tool. The instrument was set up as a questionnaire
consisting of 28 questions divided into three parts which were aimed at knowing the
profile of the academic community, its financial practices and finally, their level of
knowledge about financial education. The results were satisfactory showing a
population that tends to keep track of monthly expenses, use the notebook to track
monthly expenses, buy an unusual product when there is a need, perform a price
research before making a purchase, constitute reserves which aims an emergency,
perform investment in savings accounts and are not considered debt.
