Résumé:
The rupture of stock can be understood as the lack of available product on the shelf for sale to
the final consumer. In the last forty-five years have been studies on the subject, where it was
observed that the estimates of stock break levels has consistently exceeded the average of
8.3%, and therefore considered an aggravating problem in the retail sector. The retail
companies with fierce industry competition struggle to get highlighted before the clientele, the
damage caused by the rupture causes numerous problems for both manufacturers and retailers,
due to this we seek to identify and map the causes that lead to the issue of flow break in the
supply chain of companies. The purpose of this study was to characterize the breakdown of
stock in the supermarket area of the city of Sousa-PB. For this purpose, the research was
developed as a census and using documentary research and application of structured
questionnaires for data collection. The study examines the incidence rate of rupture, its main
causes and responsible and other issues related to the subject matter. In general, the study
shows that the burst researching field rates are high. Suppliers are mentioned as the main
responsible for the rupture. The sousenses supermarkets lose to sell about 7.2% of the items
sold in its stores by breaks. This research suggests that there are opportunities to reduce the
incidence of rupture through the implementation of improvement actions aiming at the
reduction of stock-outs, influencing customer satisfaction and loyalty, gain competitiveness
and reducing the loss of sales and revenue.
