Resumo:
Environmental and social issues, in addition to having competitive advantage, have become extremely important for the survival of organizations, since organizations have been set up as a common good, instead of only seek to maximize profits at any cost. The petrochemical industry is one of the segments that have a large negative impact on the environment. So this research aimed to carry out a comparative disclosure of social and environmental indicators of petrochemical companies listed on the BM&FBovespa website as well as vertically and horizontally analyze them, measuring comparatively the percentage changes according to a base year, from the Reports Sustainability available. This research is classified as descriptive, made use of qualitative and quantitative approach, with a sample of two companies - Braskem and Elekeiroz. The analysis was performed from the sustainability reports published by these companies in the period from 2011 to 2014, and the information was tabulated using spreadsheets. As a result, it was observed that Braskem company managed to reduce the uptake of water, generation of effluents and solid waste and industrial accidents, however, energy consumption and the emission of greenhouse gases increased during the years 2012 2014; already Elekeiroz company reduced all the analyzed indicators, energy consumption, capture and water consumption, generation of effluents and solid waste, the emission of greenhouse gases and industrial accidents. Therefore, research has shown that only two of the four entities of the petrochemical sector listed on the BM&FBovespa disclose sustainability reports, which demonstrate their concern for social responsibility and act in the pursuit of sustainable environmental management.
