Abstract:
This essay intends to problematize the work about drugs conducted with children and
adolescents in school environment, pointing out the potential of an education for
autonomy’s perspective in these contexts. This discussion is the result of concerns
driven by the performance in the Health at School Program, while attending an
internship in a NASF. At first, there was a brief historical review of how the
relationship between the sectors of health and education in Brazil has been
happening, and how the school environment becomes understood as an important
locus for interventions on the field of health. Then, it was problematized how the drug
issue has been addressed at schools and its possible implications, consequences
and obstacles, still arguing, from the perspective of education for autonomy, other
ways to do/think an education about drugs with the students. Thus, this essay is not
intended to answer the question of "what to do" in relation to this problem, but to
point some directions in relation to "how to do".
